Janurary
Kat has been working at the apartment but she also has been working in the garage. She is making another
piece for the agility course. She was upgraded my weave poles and is now working on a teeter.
Wow! this is fun. She says it is time to raise it higher. Bad ideal !! Kat followed the directions
- but I guess I weigh too much because the teeter board broke when I got to the top. Kat wasn't mad but she did email the
author of the book and told them about it. She said she got a nice reply from the author and that the book will be edited
to prevent other dogs from getting hurt. Kat said I was lucky because the board broke with a nasty point and if I hadn't jumped
when I did I could have been impaled on that point. She gave me a week off from running the course and let me stay inside
with her most of that time.
I have a new thick teeter board to play on now! She is still busy in the garage - now she is making
broad jumps.
She has been leaving everyday this week to work at the apartment - she says she has to take advantage of
the weather to get some hedges trimmed. She also said that she hopes to have the apartment done by Feburary 14, but will be
starting on another one soon afterwards. The good thing is that we still train every night and I get to spend the evening inside
with her.

I have new play things! |
February:
It's my birthday! Kat says I am two years old now. She let me play on the aglity course when
she got home. I did the teeter three tiimes for her - but I still don't trust it. When she ran out of treats I decided to
go on a sit down strike whenever she said teeter. She wants me to go on that thing - she better have some great tasting treets!
March 2012
Okay I attmit the teether is fun now that I knew it will not break on me. Shawn came and stayed one weekend
- it was wonderful playing with him. He gives good belly rubs! Kat has been crawling around inside her play pen
that she calls her garden. She spends a lot of time in there but afterwards she usually comes into my area and we play
or she opens the agaility course for me. She spent two weeks straight chopping down weeds in the thicket. It looks great because
now I can se into the woods and she can see what I am barking at. Also it gives us more room for agility equipment - she says
we are getting a pause table abd some broad jumps. I try to help her but she won't let me into the thicket But whenever
a weed comes into my area I pick it up and move it for her - she isn't always happy with where I leave it.

April 2012
Kat and Bill have been going down to Chattannooga a alot this month - something about Doug moving.
She has been giving me lots af attention we have been practicng my words twce a day and I have learned to back up and to close
doors. Kat got me a Easter Basket from the Red Sky Rescue benefit and it was filled with my favorite treaats and a new flying
disc and Doug sent home a new toy, some new treats and a new bone. Kat added the pause table to the course it is so
easy -all I have to do is sit or lie on it. I like Easter!
I did cause Kat to have a bit of a scare one day, she was working it the thicket and I started barking
my OMG there is something here and I need help bark. She came running to see what was wrong. She told me to back off but it
was hard because I really wanted to get that thing because it was fighting back. Kat called it a snake - but it didn't look
the same as Artie - and it was striking back at me. Anyways Kat killed it because she didn't know what kind it was or if it
had bit me. She checked me from nose to tail for bites and then she brought out a book and sit there and studied the dead
snake and then the book. She's weird at times.
May 2012
Bill has been working alot on the apartment. I only get to see him late at night and he pats me on
the head and goes up stairs. Kat has been going into town in the afternoons to work on the apartment and when she is home
she riding around on the mower. I like playing chase with her as she drives it around. She usually tells me to leave it -
I go to the side porch then because that means the mower will start throwing things at me. But when she is finished it smells
so good and I like streching out on the fresh cut grass.
We train twice a day and I love that time of day. In the morning I get to eat first then a nice rub
down before we start training. When we are finished I usually go to the front door and she lets me play and rest in
my yard for awhile. then later in the day we play - sometimes it is the agaility course other times we go for a walk or hike
, and sometimes she just lets me chase a ball. In the evening I get to eat and then we train before I settle down with
my chew bone.
Not sure what is going on here! Kat said thet Bill and Chris will be taking care of me for the next
two weeks and that I need to mind them. I barked Yes whenever she asked a questin. ( Will I be good? Do I understand?
Will I miss her? ) She said that Doug was having sugery and that she was going to stay with him or awhile.. That usually means
less treats and no training. At least I spent the two whole days before she left at her side. I hope she gets back
soon. While Kat is gone I have been placed outside in my yard mowt of the time. Bill had be inside in my crate when he was
home. I ate somethng off the garage floor the night before so I think he was really watching me to make sure I was okay. I
have not hear from Kat because they are not letting me use the phone - usually thry put the phone next to my ear so I can
hear her. I know they are making nightly reports to her. I saw Bill leaave this morning and he hasn't come back yet ... Chris
fed me this evening and put me into my bed. What is happening ? My family seems to be leaving me !!
Let's go hiking ! |

This is the hiking vest Kat made for me. |
June
June 3 - Bill drove in this afternoon ( he has been gone all weekend) and when I looked
in the window Kat was walking into the front room. She laughted when I saw her because according to her I got this big grim
on my face. It was wonderful she played with me, brushed my coat and my teeth . Best of all she practiced my words and then
gave me a monster bone to chew on while we sit and watched TV.The next day was wet and rainy and I got to spend most of the
day by her side chewing that huge beefy favored bone.
June 22.
This has been an exciting week. It all started on Monday - the weather was very hot and I was shedding
fur like crazy. Kat and Chris spent a lot of time brushing me and trimming my nails ( I do not like my nails being trimmed.).
Kat took all the water hoses and pulled them out into the yard and turned them on until the water started to run out and then
she turned them off. I thought this was strange but then again we are talking about Kat. Later that afternoon
she came outside carrying towels, wash cloths and a bottle. She turned the hoses back on and took off my red collar
then she turned the hose on me. It was great I tried so hard to catch the water and at one time I diid catch it and
got a mouth ful of water. After I played until I was soaked Kat took the bottle and put whatever it held all over me.
It felt good as she rubbed it into my fur - but not as much fun as chasing the water. But not to worry because after she finished
soaping me up I got to play in the water again. The water started to get cold and that was when she turned them off. She said
that her friend said to give me a warm water bath to cut down on my shedding. Then she took the towels and wrapped them arouond
me to dry me off alittle. Mostly she let me air dry because it was so hot. It was funny because she was ciovered in
fur. I sure felt better - less fur and still a little damp on a hot steamy day - priceless!
On Tuesday she found a dead tick on me and so I was given a long brushing and then she put some
ParaStar on me. It was super hot and I spent most of the day inside and that evening we set outside under the porch fan.
On Wednesday Kat was gone all morning to a dental appointment. She brought back a dental tool which
she said was for me. I don't like it as well as the tooth brush but she keeps touching it to my teeth each night after she
brushes my teeth. She said that once I get use to it she will get some of the yellow off my teeeth. It was a good thing
she was home that afternoon because I started a fight which I should not have started. I don't like those things with
no legs - she calls them snakes. Anyway I grabbed at it and the thing surprised me - it coiled up and reared up and
striked back at me. I did not know they could get that big! The last one was so small. I heard kat yell "Back Off' " Leave
It" and "Come" she didn't have to tell me twice. I run inside as soon as I could. Kat want out to see what kiind
of snake it was and it tried to attack her. She hit it and it want away. Then she came inside and checked me for bites.
Thursday was a hot lazy day . Kat and Chris both brushed me. Something is going on because Kat was
getting my "traveling" clothes out.
I found out what was going on. We have a vet appointment today. Kat put my hiking vest on me, my seatbelt
harness, my traveling collar and a bandana around my neck. The truck seats were covered with a new thing she called a "pet
rider" but my blanket was also there. I give her a little trouble about getting into the truck - she had to help me by lifting
my hind legs up. I didb't move on the way over but I did watch her closely.
At the vets office I set and waited for her to open the door and remained sitting until
it was my turn to go see the vet. I got two shots, and they took some of my blood and then they listened to me, rubbed me,
weighted me and did a lot of talking. The bottom line is according to Kat - I have all my shots for another yeatr and I can
now go to doggie play grounds, kennels, etc. I have a year supply of heartworm medicine and a summer supply of ParaStar. I
passed my fecal test, heartworm test and all the test for 7 tick related diseases. Best thing of all was that I get
to go back home! Kat had to help me back into the truck - Vet cut back my food to two cups in the morning and two cups at
night and my 2/3 of my treats has to come out of my regular dog food. Seems I weigh 84.6 pounds.
It has been very hot. I have been spending a lot of time on the side porch under the ceiling fan. I have
not seen Kat or Bill for awhile. Kat said they were going on vacation. Chris has been feeding me but he does not let
me inside the house as much as Kat does, but at least he turns on the fan for me.
July
Kat is not going to happy when shes get home .My little pal, Sky died on July 2. I am going to miss barking
at the little guy.
Kat and Bill are back! Kat said they want to see Doug and then want to Panama City Beach for a few days.
It finally rained and the weather is not nearly as hot. Kat played ball outside with me for awhile
but it is still too hot to play for long. She let me play in the water again.
It took me awhile to remember what thunder sounded like. It scared me at first. I jumped on the door
to tell Kat to let me inside. She did but she just sit on the couch like nothing was wrong. I walked back from the front door
to the side and then the back door whining and barking - but she just sit there. Finally she told me to go Home and then she
shut the door and dropped the cover on three sides. I liked that because it was dark and quite and I soon fell asleep. When
I woke up the storm was over and my door was open. It has stormed three days in a row and Kat has let me inside - sometimes
she tells me to go home but last night she let me hunt for my food. By the time I found all of my food the storm was
almost over then we played inside kick ball.
There was a strange animal on the back porch the other night eating out of the cat bowl. Kat called
it an opposum and said to leave it because they have sharp claws and teeth. I wanted to chase it but Kat made me go home and
she want outside with a hoe and chased it away. Why did she have all the fun? I could have done that.
August
Bill seems to be home more now. Kat said that he only works a four day week and that the apartment
is all finished. Now they just need to find a renter. Kat has been spending a lot of time on her computer when she isn't playing
with me. She says that when she was in Tenneessee she spent her time writing a book. She is editing it and getting it ready
for the printers. All I know is that a lot of people have been calling - it is wearing me out carring the phone to her when
it rings. On the other hand - I do get treats when I give her the phone.
We have not played on the agility course for awhile because it has been so hot.We have been doing
most of our training inside or in the shade. Chris has been taking alot of photos of me and Kat. Kat says they are for
her book. I do hope Chris got my good side!
Kat seems happy . she certainly has been busy. She tells me all about her day when she gets home.
She want to a Kenny Chesney concert with Bill ,Desiree and Shawn. She has been meeting Linda alot this month, she got her driver's
licenses renewed ( she was so happy because they removed her glasses restrictions),she was very mad at the vet's office about
my heartworm medicine, she loves this new water that she is drinking, she said she finally got her will finished and
signed as well as an LLC ( I don't know what she's talking about half the time . But my job is to listen.Wish she would
pay me better - I love treats). How she is checking the mail everyday for her lifetime carry permit - she is always checking
the mail for something.
Hopefully she will get that book finished soon - I'm getting tired of hearing about it. :-)
Okay, she can talk about that book as much as she wants - I just want her back home. She told me one night
that she was going to be away for awhile and that I was suppose to mind Chris. Sure enough the next morning when she led me
into the kitchen there were luggage bags inside and I have not seen her for awhile. I got sick three days after she left and
she was very worried about me according to Chris. I fell better now and I hope I never ruined her birthday. I will be glad
when she gets back because Chris has a different time table then Kat. He never feeds me in the house as often and he doesn't
send me to bed until like 3 in the morning.
September
I hope Kat gets home soom. Chris fell on me when I took off after an animal. My paw is swollen and
scraped. He made a big fuss over it but he wasn't happy with me. But he wasn't too happy that day anyways because he was sad
- he said that something must have gotten on the back porch last night and that it killed the little kitten. I am sure glad
I was safe inside the house because that kitten was all chewed up. Gross!
Kat's Home!! She took awhile unloading the car before she let me inside. I am sure she heard my collar
clicking I was as close to the boundary that I could get without getting shocked. Oh, heaven - I am eating my meal inside
and all my toys are here.wait, now where is my balls. Think I'll start with chewing my bone then I'll chase my treat
ball.If she gets it out - oh yes there it is!! She has so many new things for me to sniff and she is telling
me what they are - new clothes, new walking stick, new compound bow, new toothpaste for me and oh yes new dog treats.
And a bunch of vitamins which she says are hers and to stay away from - as she puts them into the cabinet. Time for our walk
- will she remember - yes she has my play leash. Will talk with you later because when we get back from our walk I will
be tired and want to go to bed. Tonight I can sleep knowing that everyone is safe.
October
Kat was so happy the other day, I throught that she would be upset with me because I was asleep and
never heard the UPS man arrive, but when she opened the door she let me inside and she was jumping up and down. She tore open
the package and then gave me a big hug and was talking very fast -saying that our book was here and that I was a "book star."
Kat says that now we just have to get people interested in it so that they will buy it and read it. So if you love dogs
- Please buy my lady's book it is called "So You Want The Perfect Dog: Start Here."
Kat has been very busy promoting her book, most of it is done from the house so I get to see her a lot.
She had a book signing at an event she called "Ladies Night Out" which was a benefit for Red Sky Rescue. She said I had to
stay home. :-( I throught I was a lady too! She didn't even bring me back anything, but she said she did sell a few books.
I am one lucky dog because she plays with me alot. In the morning after breakfast we do "tricks" before I go outside for awhile.
Then around two she either comes out and we play ball or she takes me to the agility course, sometimes we take long
walks. I don't like it when she takes me places in her truck, but she seems to like it. After supper we do some more
"tricks" and I get to chew on my bones unless I have a lot of engery then I get to go back outside to play on a leash.
I like our night walks because she always goes out with me and we play some more. She got me a big ball that I can just get
my mouth around. It is so much fun to play "soccer" with-that is her name for our newest game.
November has not been a good month. Kat has been very worried about Bill. He has been sick..He was forgetting
things and not acting normal for a whole week before he want to the doctor. He finally want the the doctor and she did a lot
of test and gave him some high blood pressure medicine. He was starting to act better and then he decided to stop taking the
medicine. Kat is not happy becasue he will not call the doctor to make the follow up appointment. I wish he would do what
Kat wants and she can spent more time with me. I have not been allowed to run around the house like normal becasue Bill has
been home and sleeping on the sofa most of the time. He does not like me checking on him - so Kat makes me stay outside or
in my den when he is asleep. It was super nice last weekend and Kat finished my broad jumps (what ever they are ). She painted
them while with blur stripes. She also repainted all the wooden agility equipement. I would have rather played on them this
weekend but she said they had to be ready for winter. She picked up the targets off her archery range and also took in most
of the satatues outside. She added a new rug to my outdoor house which majes it a little warmer and more comfortable. She
said that if I would not try to eat my blanket I could have it in there . Sorry, I just love to chew on the blankets.
She shappooed the carpets and moved all the furniture around so I have more room to play - if I ever get the chance to. Hope
bill gets well soon. He got sick on Oct.31 and it is Nov. 12 now. Kat said that he was going to try to go back to work tomorrow.
I hope he will be okay.
It is Nov. 15 and Bill is still not well. Kat took him to the doctor again yesterday and he has to do some
more test she says. Today he has been away all day so Kat gave me my heartworm medicine and let me stay inside this
morning until I had to go out. I have been watching her through the window and she has been cleaning everything.
Novemeber 16 Doug is home and he brought me a gift. Turns out to be a doggie gate to keep me out of
the dinning room. Kat had always used my soft crate to block that door and I could not see what was going on. Now I can watch
her when she is in there which makes me happy. I think Doug must really love me because Kat said that when he was smaller
he was afraid of dogs ( seems he was knocked down by one when he was very little) but he briings me gifts and pets me. He
doesn't like me in his face so I can not give him kisses and Kat tells me not to even try. One day maybe... just saying.
November 18. Things seem to be getting better ( fingers and toes crossed). Bill seems to be responding well to his medicine.
We have more test this week.
It is wonderful having Doug home. He always brings gifts when he comes home- this time it was a doggie gate for Shoes
and me ; books for his dad to read as he gets well; and a movie for Chris.
I need to go to the store and get the stuff for Thanksgiving LOL if not we will be having something out of
the freezer and I don't have a turkey in there. In fact we haven't had any meat is there since we became flex
vegetarians. We do have fish and shrimp and plently of veggies. :-)
has anyone seem the new James Bond movie? Thinking about going to see it this week.
November 19 Bill decided to go to work today. I have spent most of the day watching movies (DVD's). Doug
and Chris both slept in late this morning. Doug finished watching a movie with me and is now on his way to a natural food
store in Columbus and Chris is getting ready for work. Shoes is outside with her head in a hole hunting for mole.
Dec. 6. It has been a busy trying month. Bill was struck with memory loss and excessive fatigue on Oct.
31. The whole month of November was taken up with doctor appointments and test. We were blessed by having the whole family
home for Thanksgiving; however, our true blessing came a few days later when we were told that Bill had had a rare occipital
cerebrel infraction which is something like a "mini stroke' and that he sould not get any worst and should get better. We
have more test ahead and an appointment with a neurotolist in the near future for him.
After his scare we decided it was time for Kat to get a physical - so that's what she did
today. Now she has to wait for the results of a thyroid test and pap test. She also has to have
a mammogram, colonoscopy and see a gynecologist.
Kat gets her hair cut later this week and will finish this week out by having her eyes examined.
All she has left to is getting her teeth cleaned and that is on a regular six month schedule and due in January.
Maybe then she will stay home with me , she says that Bill will be home for at least a month I just hope that they are not
going to be away all the time.
Dec.8 Kat was so proud of me tonight. We want for our "potty" walk tonight and I want into protection mode as soon as
she stepped out the door. There were a bunch of men and dogs within forty feet of us. I started growling and barking
and Kat yelled at them to get off the properity. Bill came out and yelled at them as well and then he drove down the road
and took down license plate numbers. I did not llike Bill going towards the men at night and it took a lot of control to obey
Kat's commands because I just wanted to chase after those guys. bill said there were three pick up trucks parked on the road.
If Kat ever doubted that I would protect her I am sure she has no doubt about that now, It least they were smart enought to
call the sheriff and report the numbers.
Dec. 30. 2012 Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Kat and the family has been busy visiting with family
and friends and now things are starting to calm down, except for the snow storms that keep hitting us. They attended
the family Christmas Eve party and had a good time without me. I had to stay home inside.. Doug came home for a
week and of course he always brings me a new chew toy. Tonight I have been going around looking for him but Kat
says he left this morning to go back to his home. Shawn and his wife, Desiree came home for Christmas Day. I was very
happy to see everyone.. I enjoying this weather but Kat worrys about my paws - they seem to be okay but she
checks them and my ears often. I prefers to be outside until the sun goes down then I knock on the door to
get inside where I curls up either inside my crate or on my bed in front of the fireplace. I got the new bed
for Christmas as well as a new collar and leash, a jolly ball, a new toy football, a new rubber bone, a purple treat throwing
toy,a huge rawhide bone and best of all three new tennis balls that I chase all over the house until I get tire and fall asleep
on my bed.
